A phrase where a word is defined or qualified by its own, often tautological, essence. It creates a sense of absolute, undeniable, and sometimes nonsensical authority.
Autodeixis (from Greek auto-, “self,” and deixis, “display, reference”)

How it works.
An Autodeixis typically follows the structure “X is X” or “X is nothing but X-ness.” It resists external definition and insists on its own intrinsic nature.

- Choose the identity or idea at the center of the statement.

- Bring the statement back to that word or its essence.
- The insistence
- Let self-reference carry the rhetorical force.
In plain language: Let the subject define itself, so that repetition becomes an assertion of identity. This explanation accompanies the original definition; it does not replace it.

Classical Definition: The repetition of a word in a different form or from a different root.
Iconic Example: “The rain it raineth every day.” (William Shakespeare).
Reinterpretation (A Postmodern Lens)
Polyptoton plays with the function of a word. But what if a word could be forced to define itself, to become its own dictionary in a closed, recursive loop? What if a word’s meaning could be generated not from external context, but from its own, immediate, and often paradoxical self-reference?
Polyptoton varies a word’s form. Autodeixis turns a word back upon itself, making self-reference the defining act.

Reflective Summary
The forge has cooled into a strange mirror, and from its surface emerges Autodeixis. This is the figure of selfhood, the word that refuses adornment, the sentence that folds in on itself like a serpent consuming its own tail. It does not argue. It does not persuade. It simply insists, and by insisting, it becomes unassailable. Law is law. Home is home. Enough is enough. Such utterances require no external scaffolding, for they are built of their own essence. Autodeixis is the Logos asserting its sovereignty, declaring that within its circle lies the whole of its truth.
